Are you able to take foster children to church or any other religiously affiliated events?
This answer can be complicated, but mostly, the answer is yes. In fact, our licensing organization is faith-based, so they encourage church involvement!
The time when this would be a problem, is if the biological parents object to the participation. If a child is removed from a household that practices another religion, they may object to us taking their child to our church. However, many of these circumstances can be negotiated.
We have never run into a situation where a family objected to our religious practice, but I’m sure our licensing agency and caseworkers would help us navigate those waters.
I apologize for the short post today. I’m getting ready for Allume (woohoo!!!) and haven’t finished packing (because of course)!
If you have any other questions related to foster care and/or adoption that you don’t see on this list, I’d love to answer them on Day 30! Feel free to email or comment and I’ll add your question to the post!
