If you are interested in using Young Living oils but are not interested in the business side of things (this is a MLM company, after all), please don’t skip this post thinking it’s not for you!
When I first started using oils, I knew right away that I was NOT interested in selling. I’m not a sales person. I’ve never done Mary Kay or Thirty-One or anything like that. I’ve never had that interest. There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s just not my thing.
When I placed my first order for my starter kit, two days later, I placed another order for two more oils outside the starter kit. Those orders arrived on my porch the same day. I knew then that this was something I wanted to invest my money in. To maintain the wholesale membership that comes with the starter kit, you have to spend $50 a year. Easy right? Right out of the gate, I knew there would be lots of oils that I wanted to try, so I enrolled in Essential Rewards, still not expecting to do anything with the business.
What is Essential Rewards? We affectionately call it ER, so that’s what I’ll refer to from now on. ER is a monthly autoship enrollment where you set your monthly order and the date you want it shipped. Here’s the beauty: you don’t have to order the same stuff every month. I go in almost daily and change my ER order. Here’s another great part: it doesn’t even have to ship on the same day every month. You can change that as often as you like, too! You just have to place one ER order between the first and last days of the month. And you can only place one ER order per month. The order minimum has to be about $50, but if you commit to that for a few months to build a “stockpile” of oils for your family, that’s a super easy minimum to reach!
“About” $50? What does that mean? Well, each oil, accessory, or collection of oils is worth a certain number of points. You have to order 50 points worth of stuff to meet the minimum. All of the oils have points that are equal to their dollar value. So if an oil is $20, it will be worth 20 points. Make sense?
What do the points have to do with anything? Glad you asked! 🙂 Each oil, accessory, etc. is worth points because through every ER order you make, you receive 10% back in points from that order. So if you order 100 points worth of stuff in your ER order one month, you will receive 10 points back in your account to spend later. That adds up quickly! So lets say after a few months, you have 50 points sitting there waiting to be used. You can turn around and buy a product that has an equal dollar to point value. Which is most things in the inventory so that’s easy to do! I like to save up my points and spend them on a more expensive oil to save a little cash!
Side note: $50 is a lot to spend per month for a lot of people. Young Living understands that so once per calendar year, if you don’t meet your 50 point minimum, they give you a grace month where you suffer no penalties. If you miss another month within that year, you lose the points you’ve accrued. No one wants to lose the points they’ve accrued, so that would be unfortunate, but there’s no fine to pay, no hit on your account for anything, and you’re not flagged by Young Living. You just lose your accrued points and withdraw from ER. Simple. If ER is something you want to try for a limited time, just enroll, participate for a few months, spend the points you’ve accrued, and un-enroll in the program. Easy.
There are a lot more angles to the whole point system that has to do with ranking and I won’t even go into that today. This is just a part of the Young Living company that can benefit anyone who’s interested in buying oils for themselves or as gifts! You can participate in ER without ever selling an oil or a kit to anyone else! You still get to reap all the benefits!
You’ll notice that I instagram a bunch of oils sometimes and say that it’s mail day. It’s usually because of my ER order!
DISCLAIMER: The things I share with you are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any illness or be a substitute for any medicine. It is true that I have found less need for OTC medicines, but you have to make choices that are right for your family. Another choice I’ve made is to exclusively use Young Living Essential Oils. I believe they are 100% pure without any synthetic additives. That’s huge to me! I have read a lot of material on different essential oil companies and Young Living is what I have chosen. If you choose to use essential oils, I encourage you to do some research and choose the brand that you believe in.
