I know, I know. This feels like the 10th time I’ve blogged about face care but I think I’ve finally found a routine that I’m happy with, and more importantly, that my face is happy with!
A few weeks ago, I began using essential oils as a part of my face routine. (I blogged about it then so go back and read that post first. It will help this post make a little more sense.) I’m still using the face wash from the previous post but I changed the recipe a tad.
I have begun using a 3-step process for face care. I know that seems high maintenance and girly and whatnot, but it’s totally low-maintenance and convenient. It’s super easy and doesn’t take much time at all!
Side note: I do all of these things at night before/during/after my shower so that my skin is fresh for bed. I splash a few drops of water on my face in the mornings to wake up but I don’t feel the need to re-moisturize or anything. Do what’s right for your skin.
For Step 1, I use a 50:50 mix of castor oil (for cleaning) and jojoba oil (for healthy skin), and I add 20 drops of Frankincense and 20 drops of Purification. (That sounds like a lot but really it’s close to a 1:1 ratio of EOs to the caster/jojoba mixture. I store this in a small mason jar because it travels well and is easy to dip my fingers into.
Then, I dip my fingertips in and rub that mixture all over my wet face. I really take the time to rub this mixture in really well, in small circular motions.
Then, I step in the shower and wet a washcloth as hot as I can stand it. I take the washcloth and drape it over my face sot that my pores get really steamed open and the face wash can work full force! (Don’t fall over!) Once the washcloth cools down, I use it to really scrub my face well. I rinse it out and scrub again, making sure to remove all of my eye makeup. (Jojoba oil does this really well and gently!)
Then, I continue with my shower, really allowing my skin to breathe in all that steam. Once I get out of the shower, I pat my face dry and get ready for bed. Once my skin has air dried a little, I move to Step 2, coming tomorrow!
DISCLAIMER: The things I share with you are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any illness or be a substitute for any medicine. It is true that I have found less need for OTC medicines, but you have to make choices that are right for your family. Another choice I’ve made is to exclusively use Young Living Essential Oils. I believe they are 100% pure without any synthetic additives. That’s huge to me! I have read a lot of material on different essential oil companies and Young Living is what I have chosen. If you choose to use essential oils, I encourage you to do some research and choose the brand that you believe in.
