An easy way to treat yourself and provide a spa experience for your body is to use a body scrub! An easy way to pamper your wallet is to make it at home! 🙂
Easy recipe. Here goes:
Some sugar (brown or white, but I like white)
Some oil (I like grape seed)
Okay, okay, here are more details.
I fill a mason jar about a third of the way full of sugar. (This jar is getting a refill.) Then add grape seed oil to about two-thirds full. I use a spoon to mix that well. At this point, add more sugar or oil to get the desired texture. I like it a little stiff so it’s really exfoliating, so I added a little more sugar. You could easily stop there but when you have EOs, why not make it better?! I add about 15 drops of Lavender and 15 drops of Orange, which are both great for your skin and smell HEAVENLY together. (Use whatever combo of EOs you want but I find that 30 drops total provides a great result.) Mix it again well with the spoon and then stick that jar in your shower. Somewhere safe! Don’t break glass in your shower!
When I’m in the shower, I scoop out a bit with my fingers and slather over my skin. Ahhhh. Amazing. I rub it in really well, concentrating on the rougher parts like elbows, knees, and feet. One warning, your feet will be oily and slick, so be careful about standing up! I have a bench in my shower which has saved me more than once, but if you don’t, you might consider sitting on the edge of your tub for this step in skin care. Rinse it off and you’re done! I like to do this part at the end of my shower so my skin can retain all that moisture from the oils and the smell from the EOs!
Bonus: This works as a great exfoliater for your lips! It also works to keep a small container near your kitchen sink for your hands!
DISCLAIMER: The things I share with you are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any illness or be a substitute for any medicine. It is true that I have found less need for OTC medicines, but you have to make choices that are right for your family. Another choice I’ve made is to exclusively use Young Living Essential Oils. I believe they are 100% pure without any synthetic additives. That’s huge to me! I have read a lot of material on different essential oil companies and Young Living is what I have chosen. If you choose to use essential oils, I encourage you to do some research and choose the brand that you believe in.
