Winter’s coming. You know what that means. Itchy, sore throat. Drainage. General icky-ness. Ick.
Easy solution for winter icky-ness? Brewing some hot tea and adding essential oils! A few weeks ago, I had a sore throat at work. It just hit me suddenly, and felt like it was going to take me down. You know those kind. I did some quick research and came up with a solution.
I, of course, had all of my oils with me. At the time, I only had the Everyday Oils set (which comes in the starter kit) and I had some Ear Grey under my desk. Perfect combo.
To the tea, I added the following oils:
• 1 drop of Frankincense (boosts immune system)
• 1 drop of Thieves (kills any germs that may be causing a sore throat)
• 1 drop of Peppermint (anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral)
• 2 drops of Lemon (helps to dry up congestion)
Sweeten with honey, if desired, and stir well. This tea is delicious! You would think those individual flavors would not go well together but they are amazing! And also, so good for you! Try it next time you’re sick! Another beautiful part about this is that you can’t overdose and the “treatment” won’t be less potent. I fully believe that cough drops are less and less effective the more you take them. And some people eat them like candy when they’re sick! That’s a no-no. However, you can drink as much Essential Oil tea as you like and it’s only beneficial!
DISCLAIMER: The things I share with you are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any illness or be a substitute for any medicine. It is true that I have found less need for OTC medicines, but you have to make choices that are right for your family. Another choice I’ve made is to exclusively use Young Living Essential Oils. I believe they are 100% pure without any synthetic additives. That’s huge to me! I have read a lot of material on different essential oil companies and Young Living is what I have chosen. If you choose to use essential oils, I encourage you to do some research and choose the brand that you believe in.
