Starting Saturday (yes, tomorrow), for seven days, I have issued myself the following challenges:
*GOAL 1: Wake up (AND GET OUT OF BED!) at 6:00am (or before). Right now, I’m waking up at 6:15ish and getting out of bed at 6:20ish and that’s just not working. I like to have time in the mornings to get more things done than just getting ready for work so getting up and at ’em just 15 minutes earlier allows me that time.
*GOAL 2: Be asleep by 11:00pm. I’m a night owl but the older I get, the more I appreciate sleep. I have this sleep app on my phone that monitors my sleep and wakes me up gently in the morning. I’ve noticed that the nights that I get to bed earlier, I have a much better sleep quality rating. That will help every morning when I get up at 6!
*GOAL 3: Read an hour every day. I LOVE to read. But sometimes, I don’t make time for it. I know I’ll be a much better person if I just step away from Pinterest and pick up a real book! (Or an e-book…)
*GOAL 4: Do one household chore before leaving for work. I’ve kind of been in this habit lately. I find that in the mornings, I have the most energy. I think I’m becoming a morning person.
Dear 16 year-old me. In 10 years, you are going to call yourself a morning person and it is going to BLOW. YOUR. MIND.
Lately, I’ve made the time to empty/load the dishwasher, or otherwise tidy something while watching the Today Show. It’s been nice to come home at lunch or after work and have something already be clean!
*GOAL 5: Eat breakfast every day. Ugh, this one is hard. I really just don’t feel like eating in the morning so sometimes I’ll grab something and take it to work but I really need to be more consistent about it. I think I’d feel better throughout the day.
So there are my goals. They seem easy enough, right? And now that I’ve told you all, I’ll actually have to do them! I’ll be back everyday to share my failure or success. Hopefully all success!
