Hubby and I are about 95% finished with the process of re-decorating our bedroom. Or really just decorating, as it is. We haven’t really spent any time or effort decorating it in the first place. Isn’t that always how it goes? Once you decorate the rest of the house, there’s no more energy or money to do the master bedroom.
Well, I have truly loved our new bedroom. I wish I had finished the decorating months ago! If you’re like me, go finish decorating your master! It’s so awesome once it’s done! Or 95% done, in my case. Gotta find one more lamp…
Anyhow, to add a little something personal to the wall decor, I whipped up these photo blocks.
Super easy to make and you can personalize them any way you want!
Step 1: Gather supplies.
1. Picture Hangers (Hobby Lobby, about $2)
2. Foam Brush (I had one on hand)
3. Pictures (mine are 4x6s from our wedding)
4. Wooden Blocks (Hobby Lobby, about $1.50 each)
5. Paint (Hobby Lobby, $1ish)
6. Mod Podge (not pictured, mine was homemade)
Step 2: Lay down something paint-proof. (I used tissue paper :)) and paint your wooden blocks with the foam brush. (You can opt to sand the blocks first…I didn’t…) I just squeezed some paint on the block and spread it out evenly with the brush. Rinse and repeat until the whole block is covered, sides and all.
Step 3: Let the blocks dry. (Insert elevator music here, no picture needed.)
Step 4: Mod Podge chosen pictures to wooden blocks, centering them on the blocks.
Step 5: Attached picture hanger to back of block. I measured and found the center of the block from side to side. Then I eyeballed it (because I’m really concerned about details) and nailed the hanger to the back. The nails came with the hangers.
Step 6: Hang and enjoy your handiwork! 🙂
These two are kind of lonely so I’m thinking of making more soon. Up until these pictures, we only had one other picture of us in the bedroom. How sad!
This DIY was so easy! My mind is rolling from the possibilities! How cool would it be to print off a monogram on patterned paper?! Or print a single initial and hang it the other way?! If you try this, please leave a link! I’d love to see what you can come up with!
