I LOVE making my own supplies – whether it’s cleaning or beauty or whatever! I recently decided to make my own face wipes. I’d seen them around the internet in various places and decided to try my hand.
It’s sooooo easy.
I googled a few recipes and kind of decided to make my own. I just finished using up my first batch and LOVED them! I just made another batch and decided to take a few pictures.
* An empty container (not pictured)
* A roll of paper towels (not pictured)
* 3 1/2 cups warm distilled water (not pictured)
* a few drops Tea Tree Oil
* 1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
* a little squeeze Castile Oil
* a few drops Vitamin E Oil
* a little squeeze Witch Hazel
* a microwave safe bowl
(You like how I “measure” everything? 🙂 )
Step 1: The first thing to do is grab a roll of paper towels and cut them in half. Just take a big knife and saw right though. It’s not so bad.
I use the Viva brand because you can just get them in the single roll. I only buy cheap paper towels and I didn’t want to buy a bunch of expensive paper towels if this turned out to be a bust. I’ve read that only good paper towels will work because once they soak up the liquid wash, they need to remain strong.
Step 2: Mix up the ingredients. I warmed up 4 cups of warm distilled water with coconut oil in the microwave. I just used my measuring bowl to melt and mix everything.
Step 3: Place the paper towels in the container and pour the wash mixture over it.
This is what mine looked like after I poured the mixture over it.
Close the lid and flip the container every little while so that it all gets soaked.
Step 4: Once the mixture soaks through the paper towels, pull out the cardboard center and start pulling the wipes through.
*My container is a little small around the top so I just pull out the cardboard first and really squeeze it down into the container. It’s harder to pull out the cardboard when it’s dry so if you can wait, it’s probably better.
Step 5: Voila! Pull out the first wipe through the center and wash your face! I use these every night to get off all my makeup and really clean my face. In the morning, I usually just have to splash a little water on my face to wake up and I’m good to go!
P.S. I also use these when I have a little mess to clean up, like wiping makeup out of the sink or cleaning up a small spill. Because of the Tea Tree Oil and Coconut Oil, this mixture is naturally antibacterial, antifungal, and a bunch of other anti- bad stuff so it’s great for all-purposed wipes! If you make a batch for the sole purpose of cleaning surfaces, I would skip the Vitamin E Oil. Who needs a moisturized countertop?
If you make these, let me know how they turn out!
